Dr. Y.L Sreenivas

Prof. Y.L. Srinivas is a distinguished academic and seasoned educator with a rich career spanning over three decades. He holds a B.A. in Political Science, Public Administration, and English Literature (1984), an M.A. in English (1986), an M.Phil. with a focus on "City in the Novel of Anita Desai" (1990), and a Ph.D. on "Family in the Novels of Anita Desai, Kamala Markandaya, and Bharathi Mukherjee" (2007).

Prof. Srinivas began his teaching career in 1988 at Pulla Reddy Jr. College, Hyderabad, and subsequently served at Nobel Degree College and Vivekananda Vani, Samsthan School of Languages, Rama Krishna Math, Hyderabad. In January 1992, he joined the Department of English at Osmania University, where he worked until December 2021. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of English Literature at the School of Literary Studies, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, since December 2021. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses, with a special focus on research supervision.

Prof. Srinivas has taught a wide array of courses including General English, English Literature at the undergraduate level, Postcolonial Literature, Indian Writing in English, Film and Media Studies, South Asian Literature, Literary Criticism, and Research Methodology. His expertise extends to Romantic, Metaphysical, and Victorian Poetry.

He has also served as guest faculty at the Judicial Academy of Telangana, where he has trained judicial officers in communication skills since 2007, and at the Research Centre Imarat, DRDO, Hyderabad, where he conducted workshops to enhance scientists' English communication skills. He has also contributed as a guest faculty at the Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana.

Prof. Srinivas has published 15 research papers in national and international journals and supervised several research students. Two of his students have successfully submitted their theses, while five others are actively working under his guidance. He has also edited numerous course books, such as "English Today" (Cambridge University Press, 2005), "English @ Work" (Macmillan, 2008), and "English Turf" (Orient Black Swan, 2021).

His contributions to academic literature include over 30 units, lessons, and chapters. Prof. Srinivas has presented papers at 20 national and international conferences and organized nine seminars and conferences. He has also published more than 15 articles in newspapers including Deccan Chronicle, The Hindu, Telangana Today, Hans India, and NDTV online, with a particular focus on NEP-2020.

Prof. Srinivas holds several institutional responsibilities. He is a member of the Executive Council of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru, and Chairman of the Board of Studies, Department of English, Palamuru University, Mehaboobnagar, Telangana. He has previously served as Head of the Department of English at Osmania University, Chairman of the Board of Studies at Osmania University, and PRO of University College for Women, Koti, among other significant roles.

His experience with NAAC is extensive. He was the NAAC Coordinator for University College for Women, Koti, during its initial accreditation in 1999 and subsequent cycles. Currently, as an Executive Council Member of NAAC, Prof. Srinivas is actively involved in enhancing the accreditation process. He has worked closely with the government of Telangana to encourage colleges to apply for accreditation, reflecting his commitment to improving the quality of higher education institutions, particularly those serving underprivileged students.
