Dr. Veeranna Bommakanti

Dr. Veeranna Bommakanti earned his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, in 1984. He furthered his education with an M.Tech in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 1986, followed by another M.Tech in Remote Sensing from JNT University, Hyderabad, in 2001. He completed his Ph.D. in Spatial Information Technology from JNT University, Hyderabad, in April 2010.

Inspired by Sri Manikya Rao, a renowned mathematics teacher, and his father, the late Dr. B. Rajaiah, a retired principal of a government degree college, Dr. Bommakanti chose to dedicate his career to education. He began his teaching journey at Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad, serving in the Civil Engineering Department from October 1986 until June 2010, where he advanced to the position of Associate Professor. His career then led him to leadership roles, including Director and Principal positions within the Aurora Consortium, and Director at Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus.

Dr. Bommakanti has contributed significantly to consultancy projects at Vasavi College of Engineering and Global Information Technology, with projects valued at Rs. 51 lakhs. He led a UGC-funded minor research project from 2014 to 2016, studying spatial variations in urban living conditions. His academic contributions include co-authoring the book "Photogrammetry, GIS & Remote Sensing" with Dr. S.S. Manugula, and guiding a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering at Jodhpur National University.
